Install HeyDock on your Mac

Download HeyDock, move it to Applications, get past the first-launch warning and grant the one permission you need on day one.

Open HeyDock when macOS says it can’t check it

HeyDock isn’t notarized, so macOS warns the first time. Here’s how to open it with Open Anyway in Privacy & Security, once.

Activate your HeyDock licence key

Paste the key from your Dodo Payments receipt into HeyDock to unlock it on this Mac. Solo works on one Mac, Duo on two.

Set up HeyDock in two minutes

Pick your first mode templates, see how the dock works, and choose whether to replace the macOS Dock or keep both.

Modes and Focus

Create and edit modes in HeyDock

Add, rename, reorder and delete modes, pick a symbol and colour, add apps and allowed sites, and set each mode’s wait and daily budget.

Switch modes with the pill, the menu bar or shortcuts

Change HeyDock’s mode from the dock’s pill, the menu bar, or ⌥1 to ⌥9, and let HeyDock suggest a switch when you open another mode’s app.

Use Focus and the Stay-or-switch gate

Start Focus for 25 minutes, an hour or until you stop, choose how hard the gate pushes back, and use Stay, Allow once and Add to mode.

Add the HeyDock browser extension

Install HeyDock’s extension in Chrome, Brave, Arc or Edge so sites can fit a mode, blur when they don’t, and show the gate during Focus.

Hold notifications until you switch modes

Let HeyDock hold off-mode messages, choose who and what gets through, and read one digest when you switch. Needs Full Disk Access.

Restore where you left off in a mode

HeyDock saves a mode’s apps, open files and front pages with a short note when you leave, and offers a one-click restore when you come back.
