What you do stays on your Mac.

What HeyDock reads, what it keeps, and the few things that go online.

Effective 2026-11-02

In short.

HeyDock has no account, no analytics and no advertising. Its AI runs on your Mac with Apple’s on-device model; there is no HeyDock server. It goes online to check your licence with Dodo Payments, once a day to look for an update, and for widgets you add that show online information.

What HeyDock reads.

Each of these happens on your Mac only, and only once you turn on the feature or grant the permission it needs.

  • Apps and window titles (titles need Accessibility), to tell whether what’s in front fits your mode, for app badges, minimized windows and Word Count.
  • The site in front of your browser, if you install the extension: the address and title of the active tab in the focused window, sent to HeyDock on your Mac.
  • Delivered notifications (needs Full Disk Access), to hold messages from other modes and pick out urgent ones.
  • Small pictures of windows (needs Screen Recording), for window previews.
  • Calendars and Reminders, if you add those widgets and allow access.
  • Claude Code’s logs in ~/.claude/projects, if Claude finished or the AI usage widget is on: session titles and token counts, to show a card or a number.
  • Your clipboard, if you add the clipboard widget: the last 10 copies, in memory only, skipping copies from password managers.

What it stores.

HeyDock keeps your modes, the verdicts it has learned for apps and sites, notes, intentions and the file shelf’s paths in ~/Library/Application Support/HeyDock, and its settings in its preferences. Your licence and any API keys you enter are kept in your Mac’s Keychain. None of it leaves your Mac. How to remove all of it.

The network.

Your licence. Activating sends the key and a name for this Mac (its model and a random tag, like “Mac14,2 · 3F2A”) to Dodo Payments’ licence service. HeyDock checks it at launch and every few days, and tells Dodo when you deactivate.

Updates. About once a day HeyDock reads https://dl.heydock.app/appcast.xml to see whether a new version is out. It carries no personal data; like any request, it shows your IP address to the host.

Widgets you add. Weather asks Open-Meteo for your city’s forecast. Now Playing asks Apple’s iTunes Search for album art. The ticker asks Yahoo Finance for the symbols you pick. Revenue widgets may fetch exchange rates from open.er-api.com. GitHub, Vercel, Linear, Sentry, Stripe, Lemon Squeezy, Paddle and Dodo Payments widgets call those services directly with the key you give them. HeyDock sends them nothing else.

Crash reports and feedback are opt-in and open a draft email you can read and choose to send. Nothing is sent by itself.

Purchases.

HeyDock is sold by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record, on its own checkout page. Dodo collects what it needs for the payment, taxes and fraud checks, and emails your receipt and licence key, under its own privacy policy. We see the order, your email address and the licence, never your card number.
