Open HeyDock when macOS says it can’t check it

HeyDock isn’t notarized, so macOS warns the first time. Here’s how to open it with Open Anyway in Privacy & Security, once.

Updated

The first time you open HeyDock, macOS says it “can’t check HeyDock for malware”. That’s because HeyDock is signed with an Apple Development certificate but isn’t notarized by Apple.

Open it once

  1. Click Done on the warning.
  2. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll down to the message about HeyDock and click Open Anyway.
  4. Confirm with Open Anyway and your password or Touch ID.

HeyDock opens. You won’t see the warning again for this copy.

Updates

Updates come through Check for Updates… and install without asking again, because every release is signed with the same identity. See Check for updates.

Don’t see Open Anyway?

The button only appears for a little while after you tried to open the app. Open HeyDock from Applications again, click Done, and go straight back to Privacy & Security.

Still stuck? Email support@heydock.app with your macOS version and HeyDock version, or see Support.
