What each HeyDock permission is for

Accessibility, Full Disk Access, Screen Recording, Calendars and Reminders: what HeyDock does with each, and which features work without them.

Updated

HeyDock asks for a permission only when you turn on something that needs it, and explains why first. Everything it reads stays on your Mac. See them all in Settings › Permissions.

Permission Used for
Accessibility Window titles for sorting, app badges, minimized windows and Word Count
Full Disk Access Holding messages from other modes’ apps and popping up the urgent ones
Screen Recording Small pictures of windows for window previews
Calendars Your next event, for the Next Event widget
Reminders What’s due today, for the Reminders widget

Without them

HeyDock works without any of these: the dock, modes, Focus and the gate for apps all work. Without Accessibility it sorts by app rather than window title.

Turning one off

Turn the permission off in System Settings › Privacy & Security. The feature that needed it stops; the rest carries on.
